1975 Magazine<\/strong><\/span> is a bi-monthly journal of the Viet diaspora, founded in the spring of 2025 to mark the 50th anniversary of April 30, 1975 – the day millions of Vietnamese from South Vietnam fled communist rule in search of freedom and began rebuilding their lives across the world.<\/p>\r\n

We are witnesses to one of the most profound migrations in modern history. Over the past five decades, the Vietnamese refugee community has achieved remarkable success in its adopted homelands. The second and third generations have grown up, integrated, and become exemplary citizens, making meaningful contributions to the nations that welcomed them.<\/p>\r\n

Yet a deep concern remains in the hearts of the first generation: when will Vietnam truly embrace democracy, freedom, and human dignity – allowing its people to stand alongside the advanced nations of the world?<\/p>\r\n

For 50 years, the Viet diaspora has organized commemorations, written countless essays denouncing the crimes of the communist regime, and held demonstrations across the globe. And yet the political landscape in Vietnam remains unchanged. The Communist Party of Vietnam continues to hold its monopoly on power.<\/p>\r\n

We do not believe the responsibility for change rests solely with those inside Vietnam. We – the Vietnamese in exile, wherever we are – carry a shared and enduring responsibility for the future of our homeland.<\/p>\r\n

1975 Magazine was established with three goals:<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\r\n

First<\/strong>, to create an open intellectual forum connecting Vietnamese patriots who reject communism – a space for serious thought, honest dialogue, and courageous ideas.<\/p>\r\n

Second<\/strong>, to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, perspectives, and experience across generations – in a spirit of rigorous, progressive, and humble inquiry, without regard to age or background.<\/p>\r\n

Third<\/strong>, to seek a direction for building a Free Vietnamese Overseas community that works toward genuine democracy, human dignity, and meaningful progress for Vietnam.<\/p>\r\n

We believe that memory is not merely a record of the past. It is a responsibility toward the future.<\/p>\r\n

N\u0103m m\u01b0\u01a1i n\u0103m qua, t\u1eadp th\u1ec3 ng\u01b0\u1eddi Vi\u1ec7t t\u1ecb n\u1ea1n c\u1ed9ng s\u1ea3n \u0111\u00e3 th\u00e0nh c\u00f4ng trong nhi\u1ec1u l\u00e3nh v\u1ef1c \u1edf x\u1ee9 ng\u01b0\u1eddi. \u0110\u1eddi s\u1ed1ng \u0111\u00e3 \u1ed5n \u0111\u1ecbnh.
